ARTICLE I
CONDITIONS FOR PERMIT
PART IV
SPECIAL USES
Section 1. Cargo containers used for storage.
(A) Findings. Cargo containers and Tractor/Truck trailer cargo containers used for storage are not site-built structures and they are not mobile homes, they do however, require a building or placement permit as a structure over 120 sq. ft. in floor area. Verification of snow load is unavailable and has posed problems with permitting in the past. Experience has shown that failure due to snow load on these types of containers is not a viable factor and it is financially impractical to require engineering analysis for this determination.
(B) Cargo containers, Tractor/Truck trailer containers used for storage.Cargo containers and Truck trailer containers shall be required to be permitted for storage if they are over 120 sq. ft. in floor area. Placement and set-back requirements shall be reviewed and approved by the City of Alturas Planning Department. They shall be permitted under the following requirements:
(1) Shall be placed on concrete piers, or approved blocking either treated wood, or wood of natural resistance to decay.
(2) Containers / Trailers shall be required to be tied down for wind load. Tie-downs may be of any type accepted by the Building Official.
