DIRECTIONS FOR ESTIMATING PERMIT COST

  1. Determine the valuation.
  1. Go to Exhibit B, Part I.
  2. Locate the work to be done

    Calculate the valuation.

  3. Go to Exhibit B, Part II, to determine if the work has a 'fixed' fee.
  4. Locate the work to be done.

If found that is the permit fee, if not found go to C below.

  5. Go to Exhibit B, Part III.
  6. Locate the items of work to be done

    Calculate the cost.

  7. Go to Exhibit B, Part IV.
  8. Using the valuation determined in A above go to Exhibit B, Part IVa to determine the basic permit fee. If the permit is for new construction a SMI fee is also required. Go to Exhibit B, Part IVb to calculate this fee.

The plan check fee is 1/2 of the basic permit fee.

  9. The estimated cost for the permit is the basic permit fee plus the plan check fee plus the cost determined in C above.

2. For valuations of $12,500 or more you will be required to install new curb and gutter if none currently exists or if the existing curb and gutter is in poor condition. A deposit in the amount of the cost of installing the curb and gutter plus 10% must be made at the time of obtaining the permit as assurance that the new curb and gutter will be installed.
