CITY STREET MAINTENANCE

The City is currently working diligently to restore the streets throughout the community. In the past 3 years we have reconstructed or overlaid approximately 10 miles of city streets. In the coming 3 years we expect to complete repairs to most of the rest of the streets in town. These repairs are being funded with a combination of gas tax, transportation enhancment and State Transportation funds.

CARLOS / WARNER PROJECT

The City has completed the engineering for the reconstruction of Carlos Street from Main Street to Warner Street, Warner Street from Carlos Street to 2nd Street and West Street from Carlos Street to the South City Limit.

This will be a complete reconstruction of these streets including placing new curbs and gutters in all sections that do not currently have curb and gutter.

The project is planned to be advertised for bid in the spring of 2002 and constructed during the summer of 2002. It will cost approximately $1.8 million dollars and is funded by state transportation funds.

WARNER TRUCK ROUTE PROJECT

The City is currently engineering the reconstruction of Warner Street from 2nd Street to Highway 299 (12th St.).

This will be a complete reconstruction of this street including placing new curbs and gutters in all sections that do not currently have curb and gutter, and the placement of sidewalks along Warner next to the elementary school property.

The project is planned to be constructed during the summer of 2004. It will cost approximately $1.4 million dollars and is funded by state transportation funds.

8th STREET TRUCK ROUTE PROJECT

The City is currently getting ready to start the engineering for the reconstruction of 8th Street from Main Street to West 'C' street.

This will be a complete reconstruction of this street including placing new curbs and gutters and drainage improvements.

The project is planned to be constructed during the summer of 2005. It is estimated that it will cost between $1 million and $1.4 million dollars and will be funded by state transportation funds.

WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT
AND COLLECTION SYSTEM

The City is currently contracting for a facilities plan for improvements to the wastewater treatment plant and collections system. The collection system is 50 years old and has had no major improvements. The treatment plant was last upgraded in 1973. The amount of work and the cost is still to be determined. The facilities plan will be used to determine these. The plan is expected to be completed by the end of 2001. The funds for the needed improvements will be provided by a combination of grants and low interest loans.
