The Alturas Railroad Museum was established in 1998. The museum is operated by the City of Alturas and the members of the Warner Mountain Gandy Dancers. The goal of the museum is to maintain a living museum to preserve the heratige of the Nevada, California and Oregon Railroad. All work and maintenance on the railroad and equipment is preformed by volunteers. All equiptment is donated or is purchased with donations.
