The City obtains all of its water from deep wells and is not required to chlorinate its water supply. The water system was completely up dated in 1995 - 1997. The water system meets all requirements of the State Health Department and supplies the residents of Alturas with the best tap water in the State of California. Because of its deep well sources the water is comparable with the best bottled water. The Consumer Confidence Report for the system is shown below.
